As it might have been expected, the Blue Devils lit up Stranger Danger during their Week 8 matchup. Mike Davis and Davon Pratt combined for 71 points as they went on to win 128-67.

The first three minutes of the game had Stranger Danger hopeful that they could keep this a close game. They had three leads, 3-2, 5-3, and 7-6, but after that would never see a lead again. During that initial stretch Stranger Danger were also able to keep Davis scoreless, but as we’ve seen time and again, that hardly lasts.

The Blue Devils defense played a full-court press the entire game, tiring out the short bench of Stranger Danger. As the energy began to leave, that is when the Blue Devils began to take over. Their offense exploded while simultaneously shutting out Stranger Danger’s offense.

“We tried our hardest to just stay focused on defense and just work better as a team,” Pratt said.

Pratt put up a season-high 37 points and 16 rebounds, while shooting a scorching 9-12 from three-point range. Davis followed up his 44-point performance from last week with 34 points this week. Steven Echols, Zacarri Graham, and Destin Simmons all combined for 57 points and 19 rebounds.

Stranger Danger tried to play the same type of fast paced basketball as the Blue Devils, but could not. It was clear that they were not playing their usual style and could not keep up with the pressure that the Blue Devils press was giving them.

Joey Zocco led his team with 20 points and five assists. Matt Zocco and Steven Castanga put up 19 and 14, respectively.

In the final week of the regular season, Stranger Danger will face Semi Pro as they look to get another win under their belt before the playoffs begin. The Blue Devils will close out their season against the Rim Breakers, as they try to land a first round bye.

“We’re going to blow them out,” Blue Devils’ Chris Rudzinski said.
