After a sloppy game with many turnovers, dunks, and missed shots, Lob 203 stunned Run TMC 56-51 in a slow-paced, hard fought battle which could have gone either way.
“That’s how you close out a freaking game. Defense wins championships and that’s what we did right there,” Lob 203’s Matt Gomes said.
Gomes provided a huge spark off the bench with 9 points 4 rebounds and 2 assists. He was a huge difference maker and truly the fifth man Lob was missing last season.
“I’m ready for next week” was a common theme among Lob 203 as the team seems more focused than ever. Eric Singleton provided the force in the paint as Run TMC had no answer for his effectiveness shooting well over 80% on the game.
Run TMC made some splashes in the offseason, in particular, picking up John Rullan from the team they knocked out in the playoffs, No Limit. Rullan is an exceptional three-point shooter as a former champion of the 3-point contest back in the fall of 2016. If TMC wants to bounce back from this defeat they will need more of an effort from Rullan who shot just 3-10 from behind the arc. His teammate Will Hudson provided the punch down low for TMC adding 17 points and 11 boards while hitting all seven of his free throws.
Run TMC seemed to be in the game throughout, but in the end it came down to defense and not turning the ball over, as Lob 203 had 1 turnover while Run TMC had 5.
Run TMC will seek to get that ever so sought after first win as they take on 0-1 STP in week 2. While Lob 203 will look to stay hot as they take on an impressive Team Moose who just won their week 1 game by a margin of 52 points.
