“We got back to basics.”
That is what Jeff Norko had to say after Sportslook cruised to an 88-61 victory over the Silly Shenders in Week 9. With each team only having four players it made the game very interesting for the first half, but then the talent of Sportslook was too much for the Silly Shenders.
Three out of the four players for Sportslook had over 20 points. Dan Kokkoros lead the way with 33 points and also snatched ten boards. Bryan Acevedo also contributed 26 points. Jeff Norko had 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting.
It has been a season of peaks and valleys for Sportslook. After starting off the season 3-0 they went through a tough losing streak. They snapped it with back-to-back wins and now have some momentum going into the playoffs.
As for Silly Shenders the first half of this game was very compelling and they held in for as long as they could, but eventually the skill of Sportslook was too much for them. Brendan Carey had a team-high 24 points and has been the Silly Shenders most consistent player all season.
This has been a rough season for the Silly Shenders, but they play hard in every game and they have a lot of heart.
Looking ahead to next week the Silly Shenders locked into the ninth-seed and will have a tough matchup in the First Round of the playoff against Tune Squad.
As for Sportslook they have one of the more compelling Quarterfinal games next week in a highly-anticipated rematch versus Redeem Team. Redeem Team squeaked by with a one-point victory in overtime. Norko has a consistent message after his team’s Week 9 win.
“We need to make sure people show up, and we need to stick to the basics.”
