Team Moose comes in as the unanimous choice for the top spot after their 64-55 win over The Throne. They showed their ability to control the glass and the tempo. They have several players who can fill up the scoring column in Jackson Meshanic and Kevin Blake. They combined for 48 points this week. They look to hold their top ranking in a good matchup against NickStrong in Week 2.
2
Shocker City
(1-0)
Shocker City came out dominant and showed their experience in their 83-54 victory over Sportslook. They were a force in transition and displayed many different options to score with Tarell Vargas, Carmine Santorelli, Destin Simmons, and Troy Brunson all joining forces and combining for 71 of their 83 points in Week 1. They look to keep their momentum with a matchup against the Young Kings next week with the return of Mike Davis.
3
Run TMC
(1-0)
Run TMC established their presence on opening night with a 62-50 victory over the Blue Devils. Reggie Stewart shined with 26 points and nine rebounds, and Will Hudson cleaned the glass with nine rebounds of his own. They look to move to 2-0 next week with a matchup against a winless Dinners Served squad.
4
The Throne
(0-1)
With preseason expectations high, The Throne ran into a brick wall in the form of Team Moose in Week 1. The Throne would be without a few major pieces but remained competitive for most of the game. Despite an early season loss to a top team, The Throne still project to be a major contender in the Summer 18 season. Week Two offers an opportunity for The Throne to get back to .500 with a matchup with J’s, Treys & Fadeaways.
5
Rim Breakers
(1-0)
One of the surprise contenders from the Winter 18 season won a nailbiter in Week 1 over Nothing Easy. An assertive offensive night from Kievon Turnbull highlighted what was a well-orchestrated victory at the end of the fourth quarter. Late game free-throws and forced turnovers showed the Rim Breakers’ ability to close down the stretch.
6
NickStrong
(1-0)
For a new team, NickStrong came out of the gates with a very strong performance. They started off the season gaining the franchise’s first victory with a 76-67 win over the Head Hunchos. Michael Vessicchio led the offensive unit with 38 points. NickStrong looks to stay hot in Week 2 as they meet a powerhouse in Team Moose.
7
J’s, treys & Fadeaways
(1-0)
These young guns came out hot in Week 1 with a 76-62 victory over Dinners Served. Eddie Giovannini controlled the pace with 16 points and Joe Nemchek added 23 points. J’s, Treys & Fadeaways boast some impressive length down low and played well in transition. They matchup against The Throne next week and hope to continue their success.
8
Nothing Easy
(0-1)
Monday night’s loss will likely haunt Nothing Easy for some time. In what was a winnable game against a talented team, sloppy play down the stretch washed away any chance of a Week 1 victory. Despite their late game blunders, Nothing Easy showed the capability to compete with a contender.
9
Blue Devils
(0-1)
The Blue Devils played a tough game in their 62-50 defeat to Run TMC. Joe Cordy scored 14 points on 54 percent shooting and Matt Marconi added 15 points. The game was closer than the double-digit final, and the Blue Devils project to be an upper-tier team. A season debut by Scott Corchard in Week 2 could prove to be a catalyst for this team going forward.
10
Sportslook
(0-1)
Sportslook was shorthanded with only four players in their 83-54 defeat at the hands of Shocker City. They showed some promise in the first half but didn’t have enough left in the tank come the second half. John Zervos filled it up with 33 points, one of the bright sports for Sportslook. Sportslook hopes to be full strength in Week 2 as they matchup against the Rim Breakers.
11
Young Kings
(1-0)
The Young Kings jumped out to a 1-0 start with a 75-36 blowout victory over Above the Rim. Sevy Velasquez ran the show for the team as he scored eight points, 12 rebounds as well as 5 assists. Eddie Whitman also added 21 points with seven three-pointers. The Young Kings face a tough and experienced Shocker City team in Week 2.
12
Head Hunchos
(0-1)
The Head Hunchos never could quite get over the hump in their Week 1 loss to NickStrong. They were within reach the entire way but could never conjure that game-sealing run. Head Hunchos showed some tenacity and will look to rely on Brett Cody to shoulder the scoring load. With a favorable matchup against Above the Rim in Week 2, the Head Hunchos have to treat this game like a must-win.
13
Dinner’s Served
(0-1)
Dinners Served hung around with the J’s, Trey’s and Fadeaway’s but ultimately fell 76-62. Matt Terassi and Tommy Sweeney led the way with 39 combined points, and Kyle Coniglio added 14 points with several flashy dunks. They look to avoid an 0-2 start against a tough Run TMC team in Week 2.
14
Above the Rim
(0-1)
Above the Rim find themselves in the basement of our power rankings after a blowout loss to the Young Kings. They scored the least amount of points of any team in Week 1 with only 36 points and didn’t look to have any rhythm or chemistry. They will hope to bounce back and find a way to get it going against the Head Hunchos in Week 2.
