LEGACY LEAGUES WEEK 2 POWER RANKINGS

Even when missing a key piece to the team, like David Armstrong, Shocker City still pulled out the victory against NickStrong. Shocker City’s dominance both on the glass, and from beyond the arc are components for this top spot. Point guard Carmine Santorelli is a floor general who can cross you up, and Tarell Vargas is a big man with a smooth touch, hitting eight shots from beyond the arc in week two. This team is physical, smart, and they play team basketball.

One could make a serious argument to put the Flint Tropics at the top of this week’s power rankings, considering the Tropics pulled off a gutsy win against a very talented Redeem Team in week two. However, I still feel like Flint has something more to prove, and that could come next week against a tall and physical team in Tune Squad. On a positive note, Mike Bozzuto looks to be in his former MVP form, dropping 22 points in consecutive game

After dominating a new, but talented team in Tune Squad in week one, Run TMC followed it up with an absolute clinic of a win against the Silly Sehnders. Led by Reggie Stewart, who had 41 points in week two, Run TMC is an extremely versatile team who loves to break out on transition. With Stewart running point, and having big men like Mike Slattery and Kevin Blake down low, this team is going to be a force to reckon with in the coming weeks.

Before this past week, Redeem Team looked like they were going to be a dominant all season. However, after a week two defeat to the Flint Tropics in overtime, that is all but a given. I mean, this game was back and forth from the beginning, and Redeem Team didn’t even shoot terribly either. As a team, they shot 44 percent from the field, and 50 percent from three. On paper, these numbers won’t typically lose you a game, but the toughness and durability of Flint was too much for Redeem Team to handle. This team is extremely talented, but we will need to see something a little more to put them higher on this list.

I feel like Sportslook is a team that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. After defeating newcomers Scott’s Tots in week one, Sportslook came into week two and took its frustrations out on another newcomer, Brick Layers. This game was over from the start, as Sportslook spread the floor well, and also dominated in the paint as Dan Kokkoros led the way with 31 points. Sportslook will have a chance to prove a lot of haters wrong, as the teams Week 3 matchup comes against Shocker City.

(1-1)

Given that this team was brand new to the league, and actually held strong in a loss against Run TMC in Week 1, Tune Squad showed many positive glimpses. In Week 2, those glimpses were starting to become more prevalent in a victory over Scott’s Tots. This team is very large, and could dominate other teams in the post. Big man Chad Mckoy is a presence down low, and once he gets a feel for the smaller hoops, he is going to be dominant in this league. However, will these glimpses of talent be enough to defeat a loaded Flint Tropics team in week three? We’ll have to wait and see.

(0-2)

Scott’s Tots is a winless team, but they are easily the most talented and well-balanced winless team on this list. Losing two close games to tough opponents in Sportslook and Tune Squad, Scott’s Tots is a fast-paced team who loves to shoot the three ball. However, the team’s three-point efficiency is going to have to improve if they want to pick up a victory. Despite shooting 3-for-24 from three, Scott’s Tots are an exciting team to watch, and play great team basketball.

(0-2)

It was a debate on whether or not to put NickStrong at the seven spot, but this might be where this team belongs. NickStrong put a huge fight up against the reigning champions, Shocker City. Actually, this team seems to be “in” every single game they play. With the size needed down low, and the shooter needed at the three-point line, you would think this team would be higher on this list. However, the inability to close out games, and the low percentage shots taken are key components for their ranking at No. 8.

9

(0-2)

The Silly Sehnders were quite inefficient in shooting the long ball against Run TMC, notching a 20 percent clip on 35 attempts. It’s not that this team isn’t talented, but they lack the presence on defense needed in this league. After giving up 100 or more points in back-to-back games, the Silly Sehnders seriously need to improve on the defensive side if they would like to chalk up some wins.

The Brick Layers came out of week two with another very lopsided defeat, this time against Sportslook. Lacking a true offensive scorer and displaying minimal defense, Brick Layers will need to improve on both ends. This team has yet to score over 40 points, and have given up over five times that number. Week three may be tough for this squad, however, as they have a matchup against a Redeem Team who weren’t too happy about their week two loss.
