Tuesday night of Week 6 had much more entertaining games compared to Monday night. An intense match-up between Team Moose and The Throne did not disappoint. Team Moose came out on top, 66-56, getting their fourth win of the season.
After their loss last week to the Blue Devils, Team Moose was ready to win again despite playing a hot-shooting Jason Hernandez. After tonights loss, Hernandez offically became the team’s leading scorer, passing Joe Baccielo.
“It feels good to win again,” said Team Moose’s Josh Balabuch.
The first quarter was one that went back-and-fourth through the entirety. Team Moose, one of the better defensive teams in the league, let up 22 points in that quarter. Defense on both ends picked up in the second quarter as The Throne outscored Team Moose by just two points, 11-9.
Team Moose’s leading scorer, Kevin Blake, had a quiet night offensively. He scored only 11 points but added seven rebounds and three assists. Balabuch led all scorers with 20 points. Tyler Disabella added 13 points while Brad Seaman had six rebounds and six assists on the night.
The second half was slow for The Throne’s offense. They were held to only 23 points, whereas Team Moose had 21 points in the fourth quarter alone.
Hernandez finished the game with 18 points, shooting 50.0 percent from three point range. Stenson Jean-Baptiste added 15 points, as well as six rebounds and four steals. JR Wright also contributed offensively, finishing with 10 points.
Most notably for Team Moose, they played with out big man, Rob Harrigan.
“I grew my mustache out and that just took all of Rob’s powers and channeled them into me,” said Balabuch.
The Throne won their second game of the season last week versus Blood, Sweat & Beers. Other than that win, they haven’t won since Week 1 against Semi Pro. In Week 7, they will draw the Temptations, while Team Moose will play against the undefeated No Limit team.
“We’re ready for anyone,” said Balabuch.
