According to team sources, The Land has forfeited their first-round playoff game, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow night at 8 p.m. against And-1 in the Legacy Leagues inaugural postseason.

And-1, as a result of the forfeit, will advance to the quarterfinals and will play the top-seeded Brotherhood tomorrow night at 10 p.m. Because of the single-elimination format of the playoffs, The Land’s season has officially come to a sudden ending.

The Land was not going to be able to field a team eligible to compete in the playoffs with both Mike Cody and Brett Cody on vacation, Alec Ward still injured and other players reportedly unable to show up.

The Land had the potential to be a dark horse in the playoffs. The Cody brothers, who averaged a combined 38.2 PPG and 15.9 RPG, were an elite backcourt combination all year long. The highlight of the team’s season had to be their 104-103 overtime victory over Sportslook, where Bryan Acevedo’s record-setting 51 points was not enough to overcome each of the Cody brother’s double-double.

Even though The Land’s season has come to an end at 3-6, the league has not seen the last of Brett Cody, who along with The Brotherhood’s Tyrhon Coward, will serve as a captain in the Legacy League All-Star Game set to take place on August 16. Cody was also selected to Legacy Leagues All-First Team and All-Defensive Team.
