They move up to No. 1 after a lopsided victory over Semi Pro. This squad looks quicker than every other team in the league so far and that will lead to their opponents needing to catch their breath. Eric Singleton, the Summer 17 Most Improved Player and Slam Dunk champion, continues stuff the stat sheet with 32 points, seven rebounds, four assists and our steals.

The Chasers finished Week 2 with an impressive win over the Temptations. With Jerry Washington and Diontay Washington leading the team in point production, The Chasers have a great chance to make a strong playoff push. The Washington brothers combined for 49 of the team’s 80 points in Week 2. The Chasers will look to make it three consecutive wins to start franchise history as they take on Mike Davis and the Blue Devils in Week 3.

The defending champs bounced back in Week 2 in a big way with a win over a formidable opponent in The Throne. This is a team that loves to run in transition and can get to the free throw line at will. They took 32 free throws this week, but only hit 50 percent of them. That is something they will need to improve moving forward. Kintwon Miles had another strong game with 18 points and six rebounds. Reggie Stewart also played well, scoring 15 points. The Monstars will look to make it two consecutive wins in a Week 3 matchup against Goon Squad.

Coming off a huge Week 1 win over the defending champion Monstars, the Temptations proved they can play with anyone. However, they fell to The Chasers in Week 2 by 10 points. The Temptations simply could not get enough stops on the defensive end to get the win. Melquan Horton scored 25 points and collected 11 rebounds this week and is poised to lead the team to many victories as the season progresses.

After a 76-point win in Week 1, The Throne had a much tougher matchup this week against the defending champs. Joe Baciello had another strong game in Week 2, as he scored 30 points after putting up 51 in Week 1. The reigning Player of the Week, though, will need more scoring help from his teammates as no one else scored more than seven points for The Throne this week. They will try to rebound in Week 3 with a matchup against the Flint Tropics.

The Rim Breakers improved to 2-0 with a Week 2 win over Goon Squad. The Rim Breakers love to run in transition and forced Goon Squad to play faster than they might have anticipated. Richard Bronson led the Rim Breakers with 20 points and seven rebounds in the victory. Kievon Turnbull also played well with 10 points and handed out five assists. Turnbull is a big body who can handle the ball and is very tough to stop in the open floor.

After just a single-digit loss to No Limit in Week 1, the Blues Devils showcased their offensive firepower in Week 2 against Shooters Shoot. Behind 32 points from Mike Davis—including 10 3-pointers—the Blue Devils finished with a 39-point victory. They led by just two at halftime, but turned it on in the second half by scoring 68 points in the final two periods. The Blue Devils will have a very good test in what could be the best matchup next week against the 2-0 Chasers and the Washington brothers.

The Flint Tropics deservingly got into the win column in Week 2 behind an inspired performance against Team Moose. They started down in a 9-0 hole, but battled back to win by 15 points. More impressive than their ability to score when they needed points was Flint’s defense throughout the contest. They held Team Moose to just 35 points, including just 16 points in the entire second half. Nick Japs led the way with 23 points, including going 8-of-10 from the free throw line. The Flint Tropics will need to replicate their defense next week when they take on the league’s leading scoring in Joe Baccielo.

After a 26-point victory in Week 1, Goon Squad took a tough loss in Week 2 against the Rim Breakers. The Rim Breakers’ athleticism and speed was simply too much to handle for Goon Squad. Matt Marconi had another solid game with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Dom Migliaro also played well, scoring 16 points and collected six rebounds. Goon Squad will look to get back into the win column in a tough Week 3 matchup with the Monstars.

Stranger Danger rebounded in Week 2 with a six-point win over Blood, Sweat & Beers. Joey Zocco was excellent in this game, scoring 25 points while also grabbing six rebounds. This is a team that likes to shoot a lot of 3-pointers, as they have attempted an average of 31 attempted threes through the first two weeks of the season. Stranger Danger has the opportunity to make it two consecutive wins as they take on Team Moose in Week 3.

Team Moose is a high energy yet fundamentally sound team. They have the ability to beat anybody on any given night. They are led by Brian and Kevin Blake, and despite falling to the Flint Tropics in Week 2, this team is certainly one to watch as we get closer to the playoffs. Team Moose will look to rebound in Week 3 as they take on Stranger Danger on Tuesday night.

Due to the hot 3rd quarter by the commissioner Joey Zocco of Stranger Danger, Blood, Sweat & Beers fell to 0-2 on the season. They were significantly out-rebounded in the first half, but picked it up in the second half, which is a positive sign going forward. This team hustles until the final horn which could lead to a victory here or there, but the offense needs to be improved, and shooting better from the floor could get them over the hump and lead to some wins. Blood, Sweat & Beers have a tough matchup in Week 3, as they take on the 2-0 Rim Breakers.

While Shooters Shoot lost by 39 points in Week 2 to the Blue Devils, they played a very good first half. They trailed by just one basket at halftime. Living up to their name, they shot 43.9 percent from the field, but will need to refocus on ball security. The Blue Devils racked up 25 steals behind a smothering second-half full-court press. The Blue Devils outscored Shooters Shoot 68-31 in the second half. They have an unlikely win against No Limit in Week 3, but it an opportunity to work on limiting turnovers against another fast and athletic team.

Another week, another lopsided loss for Semi Pro. Granted they were going up against an elite team in No Limit and kept it close through the 2nd quarter, but they couldn’t stop turning the ball over. They did improve offensively by putting up 56 points, which might be enough to win some games in this league. The defense, though, struggles and needs dramatic improvement and in a hurry. |
