The defending champions proved once again that they are the team to beat. Their highly explosive offense was the main reason Shocker City was able to come away with a 98-85 win over a formidable Young Kings squad. The big 4 for Shocker City really came to play with Michael Davis leading the way with 30 points, Jerry Washington with 23, Danny Lopez with 16, and Davon Pratt with 14.

After a back-and-forth contest with NickStrong, The Chasers were able to come away with a clutch 66-64 victory to keep their perfect record intact. Both teams struggling from the free throw line, which kept the game close. When it came down to the very end, the strength of Dominique Langston was able to overpower NickStrong and got some clutch buckets that ended up being the difference.

The Flint Tropics got off to a slow start this week being outscored by a strong Team Moose 18- 9 in the first quarter. That’s when TJ Gianni and Mike Bozzuto took over, tallying 19 and 18 points respectively. From there, the Flint Tropics were able to climb all the way back to eventually get the win in overtime, 58-54. Look for them to remain near the top of the rankings as the season goes on.

(1-1)

Gerald McLease returned to action Monday night in the Rim Breakers blowout win against the Gentlemen’s Club, 96-41. McLease tallied 22 points in the win, which lead the Rim Breakers. In one of the better team defensive performances of the season, the Rim Breakers forced a total of 16 turnovers on the night. Week 3 brings a revenge game against Run TMC, who shocked the Rim Breakers at the buzzer in the Semifinals last season.

5

(1-1)

Reggie Stewart made his presence felt in his season debut Monday night, but it wasn’t enough as Run TMC fell to Sportslook, 77-61. Stewart’s first game of the season was an epic performance tallying 29 points and nine rebounds. The absence of big man Erick Langston was noticeable as Sportslook pounded Run TMC down low all game.

6

(1-1)

Sportslook bounced back from their Week 1 loss to the defending champions in a huge way by taking down Run TMC, 77-61. Jeff Norko had a huge performance for Sportslook, collecting 34 points and shooting 78 percent from the field. Look for this team to make some noise going forward if Norko continues to dominate. Sportslook will need Norko to come up big when they take on The Chasers in Week 3.

7

(1-1)

Kevin Blake lead Team Moose with 21 points and seven rebounds in their overtime loss to the Flint Tropics Monday night. The game was tight throughout, until Team Moose opened up a double-digit lead with less than nine minutes to go in the game. Blake had a shot to win the game at the end of regulation but missed, and it was the Flint Tropics who took control in the extra period. The return of Brad Seaman will be huge for this team going forward.

8

(0-2)

After a back-and-forth contest against The Chasers, NickStrong eventually fell to 0-2 losing 66-64 in Week 2. Fouls were a theme in this one for both teams. The Chasers took a total of 26 free throw attempts. NickStrong had a chance to tie the game down three, but failed to get a shot off. This team is poised for a turnaround in the upcoming weeks as they have faced two of the top five teams so far this season.

9

(0-2)

The Young Kings held tough for the second-straight week against the defending champs Shocker City. The Shocker City lead was eventually cut to just three points midway through the fourth quarter, but some missed threes ultimately cost the Young Kings as they fall to 0-2 after a 98-85 loss. The additions of Destin Simmons and DJ Foster should help this team bounce back moving forward.

10

(0-2)

The Gentlemen’s Club got blown out for the second-straight week, this time by the Rim Breakers, 96-41. Will Lutz lead the team with 14 points, but the team as a whole only shot 30 percent from the field. This team is going to have to start increasing that percentage if they want to make some noise this season when they take on teams they should be competitive with.
